How to Prevent Wrinkles Naturally

For the most part the key to preventing wrinkles is all about starting early, but you will still gain the benefits in starting an anti-aging regimen at any age, Don’t assume that you’re already too late to fix the signs of aging, late is better than never!

So what skin routine is best for me? - Firstly it’s important to find out what kind of skin type you have—is it oily? Dry? Acne-prone? Having a good skin care routine and using products that cater to those issues will keep your skin healthier overall. When applying your skincare always pat on your products or massage them into your skin using gentle circles movements, always working upwards and never drag the skin.
Gently cleansing your face every day is incredibly important for anti-aging and your overall health. It is essential for removing pollution, dirt, bacteria, and makeup from your skin. Skin needs time to repair itself overnight, so cleansing before bedtime is particularly important.
Moisturised skin is important for a healthy-looking glow and is one step in your skin care regime which should never be missed. That plump, firm feeling after moisturising your face isn’t an illusion. According to the British Journal of Dermatology, people who moisturise their skin daily accumulate wrinkles at just a fraction of the rate of those with dry skin.

Regular exfoliation - (at least weekly) is key to ridding your skin of dead skin cells. Without exfoliation, your skin will look rough and dull and your skincare will not absorb efficiently.

Increased oxygen helps to rejuvenate your skin making it look healthy and glowing.

Get Exercising – We have long appreciated the benefits of regular exercise, but research now suggests that exercise could not only keep skin younger, but also even reverse skin ageing in people who become more active late in life.

Stay Safe in the Sun - using sun protection is undoubtedly the best way to prevent skin from aging prematurely. You must use sunscreen every single day of the year, not just when it's sunny. Always use a sunscreen that is natural in origin as they don't contain harmful preservatives and toxic substances which your skin could absorb.

Start from the inside -  Eat a rainbow of colourful fruit and vegetables. Fruit and vegetables contain powerful antioxidants that help to protect skin from the cellular damage caused by free radicals. Challenge yourself to pile on the purple, red, green and orange fruits and veggies. Also make sure you eat enough foods that contain Essential Fatty Acids, particularly Omega 3. They are responsible for the health of the epidermis, the skin's outer layer. Having a nice, healthy barrier yields a softer, subtle, and more wrinkle-free skin. The foods highest in omega-3 fatty acids include seafood (especially Tuna and Salmon) as well as Walnuts, Rape and Flax seed oil.

Prioritise Your Gut Health - Your gut is the seat for your body’s immune system and is responsible for a number of functions in the body that supports healthy aging, getting your gut health in order is the first step toward younger skin. Increase your fiber intake and start eating fermented food, such as un-sweetened live natural yogurt, kefir, raw milk cheeses, Kombucha and cultured vegetables such as sauerkraut and kimchi. Consider taking a probiotic supplement with at least 4 billion diverse strains of bacteria.

Drink more water - Drinking an adequate amount of water daily is important for overall good health and younger looking skin. Proper hydration helps our digestive system run smoothly, the kidneys functioning and aids in eliminating wastes and toxins. It also hydrates and improves moisture levels in your skin, making your skin look plump, hydrated and healthy looking. Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water a day. Just plain, pure water! Not flavoured or fizzy carbonated water, just plain still filtered or bottled mineral water.

Cut down on Alcohol - Alcohol dehydrates and weakens the skin, if you're dehydrated, your skin will age much more quickly than normal, leading to wrinkles appearing much earlier in life than they would otherwise.

Beauty Sleep - Sleep is crucial for great skin too? Your body repairs itself and recovers while you sleep. The skin makes new collagen when you sleep, more collagen means skin is plumper and less likely to wrinkle. Also the body boosts blood flow to the skin while your sleep, which means you wake with a healthy glow.

Seriously, skip smoking! – Smoking is one of the strongest causes of facial wrinkling in men and women. Smoking impairs blood flow to your skin. With less blood flow, your skin doesn't get as much oxygen and important nutrients.
