As the saying goes, we are what we eat, and this is also true about what we put on our skin. Many of today’s toiletries and cosmetics contain harsh chemicals which are harmful to our skin. Up to 60% of any substance applied to your skin can be absorbed, meaning that the average woman can absorb up to 2kg of chemicals through their skin each year by using simple everyday toiletries. Is it a coincidence that chronic conditions such as asthma, eczema, thyroid problems, allergies and even cancer are on the rise? We believe that a healthier and safer option is to use natural organic skincare products.
But just because a product boasts that it’s organic, it doesn’t mean that it actually is. All products using the term ‘organic’ have to be ratified, but the nature of the process is relatively loose, meaning that you could be buying products that you believe are natural and organic when in fact they contain many of the chemicals that you are trying to avoid, and only one organic ingredient.
To avoid this it is always better to buy certified organic skincare products, meaning that the products have been independently approved. We have chosen to have our products approved by the Soil Association, as they are one of the longest standing and most experienced certification bodies in the UK.
The Soil Association will only certify products that contain 95-100% organically produced ingredients. Any product containing 70-94% organic ingredients must be labelled ‘Made With Organic Ingredients’, with strict restrictions on the remaining non-organic percentage.
